Summer Theater Academy

First Stage Theater Academy is the nation’s leading theater training program for young people, offering summer camp opportunities for students entering grades K5 – 12 this fall. With classes led by Milwaukee’s finest professional theater artists, students will learn acting, musical theater, improvisation, and much more while gaining valuable life skills in a positive, supportive environment.

  • Weekly sessions start at $160 per week. Tuition includes all class materials and one Academy t-shirt per students.  Explore our course catalog for specific classes and prices.
  • Financial assistance is available to any student; awards are need-based. Learn more about our financial assistance program and how to apply.
  • Sibling Discounts are available to families enrolling two or more children in Summer Academy classes. When registering online, input source code 31030 when you see the “I Have a Source Code” button for your $25 discount to be applied.

Two Week Gr. 8-12 6/26-7/7

Two-week session Serving new and returning students entering grades 8-12 in fall of 2017 Times: 8:45am–4:15pm Students will rotate through a core curriculum that explores the fundamental elements of actor training: Voice & Movement, Improvisation, Musical Theater, Shakespeare and Acting Theory. 5th-12th Grade Curriculum: Beginning of Day: Each Academy day begins with a gathering to prepare, share goals, and encourage each other to do our best. Acting Theory: Explore character, relationships, action and text while developing overall acting skills and confidence. Improvisation: Develop expressiveness, spontaneity, and train your brain to think quickly and with reason through improvisational character and scene work. Musical Theater: Increase your versatility and work on new vocal and dance techniques while exploring the art of telling a story through words, music, and movement. Shakespeare: Examine dynamic language, characters, and plots in scenes and monologues from one of the most influential playwrights in history. Voice & Movement: Build strength, flexibility, awareness, and expression through a class devoted to the fundamentals of two of the actor's most important tools. End of Day: Each Academy day concludes with a gathering to reflect and acknowledge the effort of fellow students.
