In-School Education

First Stage Children's Theater's Education Department strives to provide theater arts in education experiences for people of all ages—enhancing curriculum and teaching life skills through stage skills.

History
Schools have been coming to First Stage Children's Theater for quality theater experiences since 1987. We also offer quality educational programs that fit your curriculum needs from science to social studies, from art to math, or from kindergarten to high school. Each year First Stage Children's Theater's teaching artists spend more than 2,000 hours in classrooms throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

In-School Education Programs
First Stage Children's Theater teaching artists offer teachers many opportunities to utilize drama and theater as teaching tools—building students' life skills and enhancing students' understanding of their curriculum. Setting the Stage Workshops help teachers and students prepare for their trip to First Stage Children's Theater. T3 (Teaching Through Theater) programs bring specific curriculum areas to life through dramatic exercises and improvisational exploration. Entire schools or specific grade levels can Partner with First Stage Children's Theater for an entire school year including field trips, Setting the Stage Workshops and Theater In Education programs. Theater Workshops focus on our philosophy of teaching life skills through stage skills.

In addition, the Education Department will design 1 hour to 1 month-long workshops or residencies to meet your curriculum's specific needs—from theater to social studies, or from science to art—our teaching artists are a valuable resource for enhancing your existing curriculum. Cost will be negotiated on request of the program.
