The goal of First Stage's Theater in Education Department is to incite young people's excitement for learning, and we do so by helping classroom teachers explore their curriculum in interactive, imaginative and integrated methods. Through our professional theater performances, classroom workshops and residencies, we encourage students of all grade levels and ages to experience their world differently and find new connections to school curriculum.

Theater In Education Programs
First Stage teaching artists offer teachers many opportunities to utilize drama and theater as teaching tools—
Pre-show and Post-show Workshops help teachers and students prepare for their trip to First Stage and ensure they get the most out of their trip when they return to the classroom.
Teaching Through Theater programs bring specific curriculum areas to life through dramatic exercises and improvisational exploration.
Entire schools or specific grade levels can partner with First Stage for an entire school year including field trips, workshops and arts-integrated Teaching Through Theater programs in our Classroom Partnership Package.
Literacy Residencies use active learning techniques and dramatic activities to bring books to life for long-term literacy development.
