Since our first season in 1987, First Stage has exhibited student artwork in the Todd Wehr Theater lobby during the run of each play. Teachers have enjoyed using our plays as a springboard for creative arts projects, and the students love seeing their art when they come to the theater! We need art that is thematically related to our plays.
If your class or school would like to have artwork on display, e-mail us at the address below or call the Theater in Education department at (414) 267-2978 or workshops@firststage.org to make arrangements. Artwork will need to be submitted the Tuesday before a show's opening.
Artwork Specifications
Flat and three-dimensional hanging pieces are acceptable. To aid in mounting the pieces, artwork should meet these specifications:
• Flat pieces should be mounted on construction paper. • A white label should be attached to the lower right-hand corner, indicating the student's name, school name, teacher's name and grade level. • Three-dimensional hanging pieces should be appropriately labeled and must be equipped with hanging apparatus. We wire the pieces.
The art should be delivered to the First Stage Theater in Education Office, c/o Julia Magnasco anytime prior to the scheduled hanging date. Please call ahead to arrange a drop-off time. An inventory sheet should be included with the artwork.
It is the teacher's responsibility to pick up their students' artwork after the close of the play.
Please call the Theater in Education department at (414) 267-2978 to coordinate pick-up. Unless arrangements for pick-up have been made, artwork will be disposed of three weeks after the show ends.
