Peter and the Wolf

Dates:

September 7-16, 2012

Play credits:

By Sergei Prokofiev
Choreographed by Michael Pink
Directed by John Maclay
Music Direction by Carter Simmons

About the play:

Based on Sergei Prokofiev’s 1936 musical story Peter and the Wolf, a collaborative production by First Stage, Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, Milwaukee Ballet Academy and Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra re-envisions the piece with the incorporation of Spanish and American Sign Language performed by some of the top high school musicians, dancers and actors in the area. Peter and the Wolf features the original choreography of Milwaukee Ballet Artistic Director Michael Pink, the stage direction of First Stage Associate Artistic Director John Maclay and the conducting of Carter Simmons, Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra’s artistic director. The mission of this collaboration is to bring together the creative spirits of each organization to produce an original work that will communicate with a younger audience, introducing them to the magic of the arts and promoting each individual art form. For everyone ages 3 and up.
