Summer Theater Academy

Summer Theater Academy is an experience like no other with students in grades K4-12 coming together to build confidence, sharpen focus and create community. Students work with professional teaching artists from across the nation to learn Musical Theater, Acting, Shakespeare, Improvisation and more.

  • Weekly sessions start at $160 per week. Tuition includes all class materials and one Academy t-shirt per student.  Explore our course catalog for specific classes and prices.
  • Take advantage of our Sibling Discount available to families enrolling two or more children in Summer Academy classes. The discount of $20 will be applied to each class when registering online with source code 33409.
  • Financial assistance is available to any student; awards are need-based. Learn more about our financial assistance program and how to apply.

Featured Class

Young Company Grades 9-12

Young Company GRADES 9–12 | $595 +$40 production and material fee for the year Young Company is held on Saturdays from 9:30am–12:15pm each session. Dates subject to change. • FALL: September 22–November 17, 2018 • WINTER: January 19–March 9, 2019 • SPRING: March 23–May 18, 2019 (no classes on April 20) For students in high school who want to take their work to the next level, First Stage offers Young Company. Meeting on Saturdays throughout the school year, Young Company is an advanced, college-level actor training program at First Stage Theater Academy. Accepted students will complete course work in voice, movement, Viewpoints, and Shakespeare, as well as electives ranging from auditioning to stage combat to dialects. In addition, Young Company hosts master classes with guest artists from across the nation, produces their own productions throughout the season, and travels to Utah each Fall with their competitive Shakespeare team. Auditions by appointment in late August and early September. Interested students should email John Maclay at jmaclay@firststage.org. 2018-2019 YOUNG COMPANY PRODUCTIONS INCLUDE: • GIRLS IN THE BOAT, A world premiere by Alice Austen December 7–16, 2018 • AS YOU LIKE IT by William Shakespeare March 8–24, 2019 • A dramatic piece from 20th century literature to be announced, May 10–19, 2019
