Young Leaders Residency
Step into the shoes of 6 young leaders who created change as children or teenagers!
Explore the triumphs and struggles of these young people through a variety of drama activities, books, creative writing activities, and more. Lessons are designed to enhance literary, creative and critical thinking skills through an arts-integrated lens. Students will even have the opportunity to explore their own change-making ability.

Length: 6 one-hour sessions in your classroom
Age range: Between grades 2-5
Each lesson will focus on a different change-maker:
Louis Braille
Invented the braille code at age 15
Ruby Bridges
First black American student to integrate into an all-white school at the age of 6
Greta Thunburg
Swedish climate activist who pioneered international environmental campaigns, beginning when she was 15.
Jahkil Naeem Jackson
Author and entrepreneur who created ProjectIAm when he was 8 years old, focusing on the advocacy of disadvantaged and homeless communities
Malala Yousafzai
Pakistani humanitarian and activist for human's rights whose blogs and writings made her the youngest recipient of the Nobel Prize
Amanda Gorman
Poet and activist for marginalized communities who was named the first National Youth Poet Laureate and is the youngest poet laureate in U.S. history.
