Muffy - Elwood Cast

How long have you been involved with First Stage?

  • Since 2019

What is your first experience with First Stage?

  • I took a free Theater Academy class during the year, and then the following summer I did the INTO THE WOODS performance experience class, and the BEAUTY AND THE BEAST performance experience.

What is your favorite First Stage memory?

  • My favorite memory would have to have been walking into a performance experience class for the first time and seeing some of my friends there because I didn’t know they were coming. I had a lot of nerves because of meeting a lot of new people and seeing them just made everything so much more comfortable. Even after that, the group of people from that performance experience have been stuck in my brain and I consider most of them to be lifelong friends.

What is the most important lesson you have learned from First Stage?

  • I would say the most important lesson I’ve learned is that being inclusive is very easy. Everyone at First Stage becomes friends with one another so quickly just because a lot of people have that instinct to go sit with that kid during the lunch time or you get shifted around for so long until it comes to an end. Theater is a very fast paced environment and it’s gone before you know it, so being able to have those relationships with people is so so SO important.

What is your favorite First Stage memory?

  • My favorite First Stage memory is getting to perform and bond with my cast/classmates, because I have built some of my strongest friendships through First Stage, and those memories will stick with me forever.

What is the most important lesson you have learned from First Stage?

  • Quite literally, the First Stage motto, "Life Skills Through Stage Skills". I feel like I have learned so much about myself and the world through theater, and I am able to implement so much of what I learn at First Stage to my life.
